A few quickies

A couple items that I came in my e-mail:
Vote for Joy of Cooking as Book of the Year
Just as Hollywood has the Oscars, TV the Emmys and Broadway the Tonys, the publishing world has the Quill Awards. The Quills celebrate the best adult and children's books in 19 popular categories, ranging from cookbooks to biography and children’s books to general fiction. The Quills Selection Committee for these 19 categories chose books that have received a starred review in Publishers Weekly and have held a position on the Publishers Weekly Bestseller List.
Booksellers and librarians have voted and we're excited to announce that the Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition won a Quill Award as the BEST COOKBOOK in the Cookbook Category.
The Joy of Cooking is now eligible to win BOOK OF THE YEAR. We encourage everyone to cast a vote for Joy of Cooking at www.quillsvote.com as the BOOK OF THE YEAR. Winners will be announced on Monday, October 22, 2007.
So, please, vote today for America’s beloved cookbook - Joy of Cooking - at www.quillsvote.com. Voting ends October 10, 2007.
Brad wrote in to tell me about a plug-in for Firefox called Grocery List Generator. I haven't tried it yet, but here's what he said:
All you have to do is select the recipe and then it populates what you need to buy from the grocery store to make the recipe.
I'm sure you can already think of some of the benefits of having the app but check it out. I'd love to see some of the recipe's from C.F.G populated into this little app as there is nothing worse than forgetting pure vanilla when you go to make cheesecake cupcakes and you have to run back out at midnight when the only grocery store that's open is that really expensive place you only shop at after midnight cause it's the only one open. Hah!
