What I Ate: January 1, 2008
Posted 4 January, 2008 at 12:28am by Michael Chu(Filed under: What I Ate)
So, a couple weeks ago I toyed with the idea of starting to document what I ate for the year of 2008 and then assemble it into either a daily calendar (for future years) or a book. Unfortunately on December 30, 2007, I got sick (or bad food poisoning) so this project has started off rather badly. Anyway, I'm going to try to do it, so here's the first entry.
I managed to get down some rice porridge made in an 8-qt pot with 1 cup rice, 4 cups water, 2 cups chicken broth (with a dash of beef broth which was accidental since I thought I grabbed a can of chicken broth), a some salt. The first bowl was fine, but I barely got the second bowl of it down later. Sick food sucks. scraped what was left into a large bowl, plastic wrapped it, and deposited it in the fridge to be thrown out a week later.
Dinner - Tina had picked up some ramen packets at the Korean supermarket. Hopefully the noodle soup would be easy enough on my stomach but provide some nutrients. There were only three types that she found that weren't spicy - all three by Nissin and without a lick of English on the wrapper. We tried what turned out to be beef flavor tonight and it was not particularly good. I got down all the noodles, but it really wasn't much better than their Cup O' Noodles product (and cost $1 a packet).
I forgot to take a picture prior to eating… so here's what remained. The soup was overly salty.

Good luck with it. I took a photo of everything I ate or drank in January of 2007 as a method to motivate myself to lose some weight - once you start photographing everything, it really strikes you how much you're actually consuming.

In my case, it feels like I'm not consuming enough…
