What I Ate: January 19, 2009

I spent all day at the Fancy Food Show and didn't eat a formal meal. I snacked on food samples that caught me eye throughout the entire day. When I got home around 9pm, I felt like eating a little more, so I cooked up a bowl of Nong Shim spicy ramen (with an egg beaten into the soup).

  • This is by far my favorite packaged ramen. I like to make a ramen frittata adding some chopped veggies and frozen peas for a little more nutrition. I put the cooked ramen and seasonings into a skillet and get the bottom very crisp before adding two eggs and finishing it under the broiler. I like to top it with egg foo yung sauce or sometimes just some soy sauce mixed with hoisin or ketchup. I guess it's actually more like ramen egg foo yung than a fritatta.

Are there any other brands of packaged ramen I should try. After having Nong Shim all others seem to pale in comparison

  • I think Annie from House of Annie likes Paldo (the ramen in packages, not the bowl stuff).
