Since my car was in the shop and we had Moovers come and do a moving estimate this morning, Tina worked from home. So, the two of us went over to Alcapulco Cantina & Restaurant (1299 Lawrence Expy, Santa Clara, CA‎ - (408) 249-2001‎) a block from my house. We ordered a huge bowl of tortilla soup (which was delicious).

I also ordered a platter of chicken taquitos, beef tamale, and chicken tamale. The bowl of soup was a lot larger than we expected and after sharing that and splitting a tamale, we were full.

For dinner, I cooked a rib-eye steak. This time I decided to do it in the oven at low temp (200°F) for 20 minutes which brought the internal temperature up to 110°F. I then pan fried the steak in a pan over medium heat with beef fat that I rendered from strips of fat that I trimmed off the steak for this purpose. Unfortunately, the pan frying took a few minutes longer than I hoped and I overshot my target temperature a bit and ended up around 130#176;F. Tina and I like it best around 115-120°F. Next time, I'll bake until 90-95#176;F.

I then sauteed a bag of arugula in the remaining beef fat and served with Acme Green Onion Loaf.
