Apparently, one weekend per year, Texas has a tax holiday - three days where you don't pay sales tax on most clothing! This year (2009) it's going to be on August 21 through 23.

  • Maryland now has a "tax holiday" too, right before the start of the new school year. It's intended to give a bit of a break to parents and students doing back-to-school shopping. However, it benefits anyone who shops for the qualifying items during that time. This year, it was August 8 - 14. It exempts certain clothing and footwear items that sell for $100 or less (per item) from the 6% state sales tax.

More states have begun to participate in this annual practice, including Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.

I say any break we can get is a good break!
