What I Ate: July 16, 2009 (Feast of Memories)
Posted 17 July, 2009 at 12:58am by Michael Chu(Filed under: Food, What I Ate)
Lunch: Today was a really busy day, so we ended up grabbing a roast chicken from the HEB near where we live as well as a loaf of ciabatta. I had a leg and thigh with salad and toasted bread.
Dinner: I went to a potluck event held at the Austin Museum of Art called the Feast of Memories.
I ate a variety of homemade dishes and desserts while chatting with random people about food and food memories. After the dinner, several people got up to share with the group (of about 70 people) their memories of food and what brought them to prepare the dishes they prepared for everyone. It was a fun event.
The lighting wasn't great and I didn't take too much time to photograph my plate (didn't set up a tripod like I normally do) - so here's one where you can see the stuff a little better but not as nice.

Did you bring anything?
I find it unusual that there is nothing that appears to have a hispanic influence. Or is it that you just didn't select any of that?

I showed up about 40 minutes late, so a lot of stuff was gone. The yellow triangle on the right is a Tortilla Espanola made by Addie Broyles ( http://www.austin360.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/food2/index.html ). She learned the recipe while on a year study abroad program in Spain.
I brought Chinese Almond Cookies (upper left).
