What I Ate: October 24, 2009
Posted 24 October, 2009 at 10:06pm by Michael Chu(Filed under: Food, What I Ate)
Dinner: We went to Peter Tsai's housewarming party where he had food catered by local Vietnamese and Laotian fusion food truck Me So Hungry (817 W 5th St, Austin, TX - (512) 659-5744). Christina from Me So Hungry provided us with Pad Laos Noodles (Stir-fried rice noodles with sweetened BBQ pork).
Banh Mi (Slices of tenderized sweetened pork, marinated in a 24 hour sauce, served on a buttered baguette and spread in a sweet cilantro mayo. Sliced cucumbers, slivers of jalapeno, shredded pickled carrots, and cilantro.)
Vietnamese Spring Rolls (made with rice paper wrappers filled with shrimp with crispy lettuce, shredded fresh carrots, bean sprouts, and cilantro. Served with a spicy peanut dipping sauce)
All of it was fairly decent and best of all the food truck is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8pm to 3am - so we have another late night food option.
Lunch: While heading up to our construction site, Tina and I swung into a McDonald's for a quick lunch. I had a Filet-o-Fish and a Cheeseburger with ketchup and mayo.

I LOVE vietnamese springrolls. I learned how to do them last year and it s our favorite fingerfood now. It s a pitty that you cant get decent vietnamese food here in Germany. IT s all boring "chinese" food with lots of starch ..tastes all the same.
