Lunch: Fanpop ate out as a group at One Market (1 Market Street, San Francisco, CA‎ - (415) 777-5577‎) for our 2009 holiday lunch. The food was excellent and the prices great for the quality. The Market Lunch is a special they run that lets you get any starter and any entree for $28. Cliff got a couple of vegetarian entrees while Dave, Papa, and I each got the Market Lunch with a different appetizer which we split.
One Market

Grilled Octopus - tender and strongly flavored - worked wonderfully with the grainy edamame puree
One Market - Grilled Octopus

Oysters on the Half Shell - sweet and briney, tasted like the ocean
One Market - Oysters

Dungeness Crab Cakes - pure fresh crab delight
One Market - Crab Cakes

For my entree, I selected the Grilled Trout.

I got Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Apple Wood Bacon for my side dish.

I also had a Huckleberry Lemonade which was served as a lemon sorbet in a huckleberry syrup.

Dinner: I headed over to Walnut Creek and had dinner with my friends Dave and Rachel at Plearn Thai Palace (1510 North Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA‎ - (925) 937-7999‎).

We split three dishes - all of which were fairly well prepared:

Ma-Kuer-Pad Eggplant pan fried with pork, sweet basil, tomato, onion, zucchini, bell pepper, green chili and special Thai seasonings
Plearn Thai Palace - Ma-Kuer-Pad

Pumpkin Curry Chicken simmered in red curry with coconut milk, bell peppers, pumpkin and Thai sweet basil
Plearn Thai Palace - Pumpkin Curry

Pat si iu Fried rice-noodles broccoli and egg with bean curd
Plearn Thai Palace - Pat si iu

The Ma Kuer Pad was my favorite of the three dishes we had.
