Dinner: We had to get some curtains at Bed Bath & Beyond, so after we were done we went across the street to try La Madeleine Country French Cafe (5493 Brodie Lane, Austin, TX‎ - (512) 287-4081‎). The restaurant is counter style - where you order pre-prepared food from a counter like quiches, other savory pastries, rotisserie chicken (which they were out of), and soups and salads. We tried a couple of soups, pastries, and dessert.

We tried the French Onion Soup which was a bit too salty.

The Tomato Basil Bisque (which we were told was their number one selling item) was flavorful, but tasted almost like a thin tomato pasta sauce than a bisque.

Tina had the Chicken Friand (a puff pastry filled with chicken, mushrooms and béchamel sauce, topped with mushroom sauce) which was not too bad. The mushroom sauce was a bit too cheesy for Tina though.

I had the Quiche Lorraine (eggs with ham, bacon and Swiss fill a delicate pastry shell) which was not one of the better quiches I've had.

The Potato Galette was mostly bland except for the herbs that it was flavored with. We didn't like it.

We ended with a Sacher Torte which was made with raspberry jam instead of apricot and wasn't served with any whipped cream. The chocolate cake layers were moist and fairly dense. I prefer cakes with a lighter texture.

Lunch: I microwaved a large slice of lasagna that we had made a while back and frozen into servings.
