Breakfast: I woke up early a took my car to the VW dealer for routine maintenance. I picked up a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Hash Brown Patty, and Coke to munch on while waiting in the waiting room.

Lunch: I made a Cajun-style turkey sandwich.

Dinner: Tina and I split the leftover gnocchi and vegetables from Green Pastures.

Dinner #2: After watching a Peter Schickele / P. D. Q. Bach performance at The Long Center, we stopped at Taqueria Star on Riverside and Congress. I ate a carne guisada taco.

We split an al pastor taco special…

…and lengua tacos.

We ended up with half the al pastor and half the lengua left over.

  • My husband thought he was doing the right thing by applying one coat of vegetable oil to our new butcher block. Is it too late or can we start applying mineral oil? I hope we haven't ruined it.

Michael Chu, March 4th, 2010 at 5:16 pm:

  • You haven't ruined it. Just use the butcher block often and wash thoroughly with soapy water. Soon, you'll need to apply more oil, so just use mineral oil starting with that application and all future ones.
