Dinner: We went to Ryu of Japan (11101 Burnet Road, Austin, TX‎ - (512) 973-9498‎) for dinner. We started with seaweed salad.

Miso soup came with our order of the chirashi sushi.

Tempura Ika - The squid was soft and tender and flavorful.

Tempura Shiitake - Good flavor and nice contrast in texture.

Poke - Not one of their better dishes. Sauce needed to be stronger and tuna was a little mealy/stringy today. Tuna also needed to be cubed smaller so sauce will coat more surface area.

  • That chirashi bowl and the MONKFISH LIVER look fantastic!! I didn't realize Ryu had monkfish liver, and I love that. I had a mediocre experience there on my single visit, but your post made me want to go back.

  • You have to get the oyster too. It's huge, sweet, and amazing.
