Dinner: It always amazes us how much amazing food is coming out of food trucks in Austin. We ate at Not Your Mama's Food Truck (2209 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin, TX, 78704) (see their Facebook page for times) and had the best beef tongue ever. Go now or tomorrow and order the beef tongue. Trust me - it's excellent.

We ate one of everything on the menu:
Korean Fried Sliders scallions, cucumber, hoisin, on steamed buns ($4). Excellent. Crunchy, sweet, and salty, and delicious. Do not hesitate to order this with your beef tongue.

Steak Slider chicken fried gravy, carmelized onion ($4). The gravy is in a little fried pocket and oozes out as you bite in. Very tender and flavorful beef.

BBQ Beef tongue Korean style, pickled veg., w/sticky rice ($5). AMAZING. I might be over selling this, but the flavor and texture are incredible. I loved the Korean BBQ sauce paired with the pickled onions and daikon. I couldn't stop eating the rice either!

Pierogies - Not Your Mama's Style! peas, roasted tomatoes, Parmesan, proscuitto powder, & beef cheek ($5).

Pommes Frites with awesome sauce ($3.50). We had a Japanese-style mayonnaise with sriracha sauce with these fries. The texture was so-so, but the potato flavor was pretty good.

Fried Chicken ($6). Today's style was Korean Fried. Super juicy interior with an extremely crispy and well sauced outside. I wish the interior had a bit more flavor though (brining or marinading could have helped).

  • Whoa. Duly bookmarked. Damn, I wish I'd seen this before our food trailer crawl last weekend!
