Dinner: Because the series finale of Lost was airing tonight, I decided to make Shepherd's Pie (in honor of Jack Sephard).

Lunch: I ate the leftover pizza from Romano's Macaroni Grill

Dinner: We tried for that 9:50pm movie again, but this time left much earlier for dinner. Across the street from the theater is a Romano's Macaroni Grill - an Italian food chain that we haven't dined at in years - so that's where we ate.

We started with their Prosciutto e Arugula Neapolitan Pizza which had a nice crispy and chewy texture. Unfortunately, the pizza could have been a little more flavorful (it was fairly subdued). A few mouthfuls were perfectly flavored though - great balance of mozzarella, peppery arugula, and savory prosciutto.

Lunch: We ate the rest of the jambalaya.

Dinner: We tried to make it to a 9:50pm movie, but I didn't get done with work until 9:15pm. We tried to grab a quick dinner at McDonald's on the way to the movie, but, in the end, missed our movie. (It was 9:55pm when I overshot the exit I needed to take.) At McDonald's, I had a Big Mac, Filet-o-Fish, and shared fries with Tina.

What I Ate: May 20, 2010 (East Side King)

Dinner: We got together with the Fearless Critic Austin editors, publishers, and panelists for a book release party, then headed over to have some food at East Side King in the back patio of The Liberty (1618 1/2 East 6th Street, Austin, TX‎ - (512) 600-4791‎). The food tonight was quite good - the pork buns were seared very well which made them much better than the last time we had them here. The Brussels Sprout salad was a bit off - the dressing was too mild and the sprouts were in between soft & tender and crunchy. The curry buns were a tad too greasy for my taste, but they had good texture and nice peanut and spicy flavor.

Lunch: Ate a quick lunch at Which Wich - the Thank You Turkey Sandwich (turkey, stuffing, and cranberry) with some veggies added. Pretty good - I'll put it on my list of sandwiches I like there.

Dinner: Tina worked for a few hours to make this crawfish, shrimp, and chicken jambalaya. The rice came out a little soggy (started to burn because the burner was on too high so she added some more water) but the flavor was fantastic. I ate a couple bowls.

What I Ate: May 18, 2010 (Casino El Camino)

Dinner: We returned to the home of the best burgers in Austin - Casino El Camino (517 East 6th Street, Austin, TX‎ - (512) 469-9330‎) - to try another couple burgers. We ordered two different 3/4 pound burgers and split them. I had the Chicago which was simple: bacon, romaine lettuce, tomato, and cheddar cheese. The flavor of the burger was fairly mild overall, but the loosely packed burger patty was still really good and matched well with the thick chewy slices of bacon. An extra sprinkle of salt really helped out.

The Pitts Burger (sauteed mushrooms, provolone cheese, and A1 steak sauce) had a much stronger flavor and it was difficult going from the Pitts to the Chicago because of the strong A1 Steak sauce.

Dinner: At dinnertime, we found ourselves near The Domain, so we decided to try McCormick & Schmick's (11600 Century Oaks Ter, Austin, TX‎ - (512) 836-0500‎).

We started with Crispy Buttermilk Fried Oysters with Lemon Tabasco Aioli. The oysters were decent, but two of them had really chewy portions that was so rubbery I thought I was chewing on an overcooked piece of clam instead of oysters. I did like the addition of tabasco with the aioli, but would have preferred a nicer presentation. It turns out, this was probably the best looking dish we had. The bed of spinach was great.
